IELTS Speaking Part 1 (Fast Food)

Topic: Fast Food
Difficulty: Easy

  • What do you have for breakfast?

    • I begin my day by waking up early and grabbing a cup of coffee before starting work. Typically, I am able to have breakfast around 9:00 a.m. In my city, there is a fast food chain called Jollibee that serves the most delicious hashbrowns and waffles.
    • Vietnam is home to a delicious dish known as Pho Bo, which is typically available in the mornings. As a routine, I often indulge in this dish before heading off to work.
    • Lately, I have incorporated going to the gym into my routine, so I typically hit the gym before having breakfast. As part of my fitness goals, I follow a strict diet that is low in sodium and consists mainly of beef and chicken breast for my morning meal.
  • Do you eat fast food?

    • Lately, I’ve developed a concerning habit of consuming fast food due to my increasingly busy schedule. I typically opt for a Big Mac with large fries and a jumbo drink as it fills me up and satisfies my cravings. Although I am aware that this is not a healthy choice, it helps me feel more relaxed at the moment. However, I am fully aware of the negative consequences of such dietary choices.
    • Fast food is a ubiquitous part of the food culture in my country, and I often opt for the classic fried chicken with rice. I tend to go for the extra spicy option to add a bit of heat to my meal. Recently, McDonald’s in my country has started offering a dish called “fish and fries,” which appears to be a nod to the popular British dish, fish and chips. While I do appreciate having a healthier option, the fish used in this dish – pollock – is not as good as the Atlantic cod.
  • What are the different kinds of fast food in China?

    • In my country, we’ve got both western and local fast food joints. The western ones usually serve up fried food like chicken and we’ve got KFC and McDonald’s for burgers. The local fast food spots dish out fried veggies and chunks of pork or beef. Personally, I prefer western food because it’s packed with more flavor and it’s super crispy and crunchy.
    • In my city, the most popular fast food joints are the ones that serve chicken, like KFC and some local Chinese fast food chains. We’ve also got some McDonald’s and Pizza Hut around here.
