IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Keys

  • Do you think it’s a good idea to leave your keys with a neighbour?
  • Do you often forget the keys and lock yourself out?
  • Have you ever lost your keys?
  • Do you always bring a lot of keys with you?

Do you think it’s a good idea to leave your keys with a neighbor?

Aya (High School Student)
I think it can be a good idea if you know the neighbor well. In Japan, we don’t often leave our keys with others, but it could be helpful if I accidentally lock myself out. My parents would decide if it’s safe to do that.

Minho (University Student)
Yes, it can be practical, especially if you trust your neighbor. In South Korea, some people do this, but only with neighbors they know well. It’s convenient for emergencies, like if I forget my keys at home.

Linh (Office Worker)
It depends. In Vietnam, we usually leave our keys with family, not neighbors, but if the neighbor is someone trusted, it’s not a bad idea. It can be helpful in case of emergencies, but I would be careful.

Mr. Wong (Retired English Teacher)
Yes, I think leaving keys with a trusted neighbor is wise. In Canada, many people do this for security reasons. It’s useful, especially if you accidentally get locked out, and it creates a sense of community trust.

Do you often forget the keys and lock yourself out?

Aya (High School Student)
No, I don’t usually forget my keys. I have a small keychain, so it’s easy to remember. I know it would be hard to get back inside if I forget them, so I’m careful.

Minho (University Student)
Sometimes I forget my keys, but I usually remember before I leave the house. It’s a bit of a habit for me to double-check. I’ve only locked myself out once, and it was a hassle to get back in.

Linh (Office Worker)
I don’t often forget my keys, but I have done it a few times when I was rushing. Luckily, I keep a spare key in a secure spot. I try to make sure I have everything before I leave.

Mr. Wong (Retired English Teacher)
No, I rarely forget my keys. I keep them in a specific pocket, so it’s easy to remember. Over the years, I’ve developed a habit of checking for them before I leave.

Have you ever lost your keys?

Aya (High School Student)
No, I haven’t lost my keys before. I keep them on a keychain attached to my school bag, so they’re always with me. I try to be careful not to lose them.

Minho (University Student)
Yes, I lost my keys once, and it was quite stressful. I had to get new ones made, which took time. Since then, I’ve been extra careful with them to avoid losing them again.

Linh (Office Worker)
Yes, I have lost my keys once before, but luckily I had a spare. I was worried at the time, and now I make sure to keep them in a secure spot to avoid it happening again.

Mr. Wong (Retired English Teacher)
I may have misplaced my keys once or twice in my younger days, but now I’m very careful. I keep them on a large keyring, so they’re hard to lose. I always know where they are.

Do you always bring a lot of keys with you?

Aya (High School Student)
No, I only carry one or two keys with me. I have my house key and sometimes a key for my bike lock. It’s easy to keep them together, so I don’t lose them.

Minho (University Student)
I carry a few keys with me, like my house key and a locker key. I try to keep my keychain light, so I don’t have too many keys at once. It’s easier to manage that way.

Linh (Office Worker)
Yes, I carry a few keys, including my house key, office key, and a locker key. I keep them organized on a keychain, so it’s easier to find the one I need quickly.

Mr. Wong (Retired English Teacher)
No, I don’t carry too many keys. I have a key for my home and one for my car. I prefer keeping it simple, so I only bring what I really need with me.
